NORM SCHUREMAN- IN MEMORY OF A GREAT TEACHER AND MENTOR

I just found out that one of my all time favorite former teachers at Art Center was murdered last week. Norm was a great teacher and an even better man. He was a great inspiration to me at Art Center and was my teacher. I remember during a class crit, he turned to me after studying my displayed artwork asking me if I was finished. I told him I was, but that there were a couple things I wanted to do to it. He looked at me very sternly and said, "Rob, never miss a deadline in your career. If you do----(he whispers)-----you're fucking yourself." To this day, I've never forgotten his advice. In my closing days at Art Center just before I was set to graduate, Norm took me under his wing and really prepped me for the cold harsh world I was going to step into. I'll never forget him for that. I was grateful and I thanked him, but I never got the chance to see him and really tell him how much I appreciated him. Thanks Norm, and I won't forget--"Gesture before line, Sir-------gesture before line."
